Tottenham Hotspur have to stop Tammy Abraham when they face Chelsea this weekend.
On the chalkboard
The England international has been in excellent form this season, scoring 11 goals in 16 outings for the Blues in the Premier League.
He is comfortably the club’s top scorer in the division, with Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic his closest team-mates with five goals apiece.
Abraham has also provided three assists – none of his team-mates have more – and he will be a threat both in terms of his goalscoring and his creativity.
If Spurs are to stop him, they will have to do one thing: force him to run with the ball.

Abraham has averaged just 0.2 dribbles per game in the league, per WhoScored, and it will offer an opportunity for the north London club’s defenders to win the ball back. After all, he averages 2.4 unsuccessful touches per game and is also dispossessed 1.1 times per game.
Abraham also has a pass completion rate of 70.1%, suggesting that he is unable to offload the ball effectively.

In the right areas
Spurs, obviously, need to be careful not to give the striker too much space in and around the penalty area or he is likely to score.
Only Jamie Vardy has scored more goals than Abraham this season.
But his statistics suggest that, if Tottenham can force him down a cul-de-sac, they can win the ball back and limit his effectiveness.
It is, of course, easier said than done.
But it will be vital to the club’s hopes of achieving a victory that would see them leapfrog Chelsea and into the top four.
