Manchester United didn’t have a great time visiting the Emirates in their first clash of the new year. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops suffered a 2-0 defeat and handed Mikel Arteta his first victory at the helm of Arsenal.

And the fans seem to be particularly divided on Nemanja Matic’s performance – some say he was their best player on the pitch while others think the very opposite and were quick to bash him on Twitter.

When we crunch the numbers, we can see that the veteran midfielder did have some sort of an impact after all – he recorded 82.8% passing accuracy and tallied seven dribbles and one key pass.

Defensively, however, his display did leave a lot to be desired as he could only register one tackle throughout the game.

Perhaps for that reason, there were also many fans who simply thought he was really bad on the night and didn’t do enough to help Man United get back on track.

One claimed Matic is ghosting almost every game, while another declared his display was nothing short of dreadful.

With Scott McTominay still out of action, United fans may have to put up with the Serbian for a little longer.
